I watched Rushmore again last night, and it left me with a powerful feeling, as some movies tend to do. This was sort of a painful but happy feeling... something along the lines of "life sucks, but everything's going to be all right anyway." After the movie, I came up with this tune. This sort of thing is pretty far from my usual style, and I guess I'm not too good at it. It took several tries before I produced a version that was bearable, and I'm still not too happy with it. The first lead phrase is similar to the ending song of the movie, and that's not a coincidence... but my intent was to reproduce my feeling from the movie rather than the music itself. |
