H,
this one's easy. That inkblot is clearly representative of
man's inhumanity to man. (You disagree? Getcher own damn
Rorschach test.)
ne
of my defining characteristics is a pervasive pacifism. I tend to
eschew aggression or hostility of any kind, and greatly prefer cooperation
to competition. I'm not an activist -- I don't organize "No Nuke" rallies
or display bumper stickers about bake sales and bombers. I'm a passive
pacifist. Like an apolitical Gandhi with food and hair.
his
trait manifests itself on a range of scales. At the personal level,
I do not yell or waggle a finger when I'm cut off in traffic. I do not
make fun of people I don't know. I don't retort in anger. The world is
already overgrown with unhappiness, like an unweeded garden that grows to
seed. Instead of cultivating my own, I'd rather spend my energy busting
out the Weed-Whacker.
n
general, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, and attribute
bad situations to well-meaning accidents or bad luck rather than
maliciousness. If this spills over into naivete and I get taken advantage
of, well, that's better than propagating a vicious cycle or starting a
ping-pong match of retaliation.
t
a more global level, I am disgusted by just about anything
military-related. If I can at all help it, I will never be employed in
any capacity related to the development of so-called "defense" technology.
Never. I don't find the design of efficient methods for destroying or
killing to be a worthwhile goal. "Necessary evil" or not, I don't want
anything to do with it.
aradoxically,
I love kung fu movies and fighting games. I think I
perceive them more as displays of acrobatics than violence. Or maybe I
draw some sort of ideological distinction between Wong Fei Hong's
choreographed somersault-kick, and, say, the carpet-bombing of a rural
village.
